Gustavo Petro’s popularity continues to decline and Francia Márquez does not raise his head; Noboa and Milei, the best on the continent

A recent survey by the firm CB Consultora analyzed the positive image of the different Latin American leaders and found that, in the case of Colombia, the approval of President Gustavo Petro fell again, placing him in position number nine out of ten.

The Colombian president went from 41.1% positive image (April) to 38.6%, remaining only above the president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, who has not been able to get out of last place and whose image also continues to decline, since in April it was 25.3% and for May it was 24.8%.

At the upper end of the table, the panorama is different, Well, the best qualified was the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, who went from a positive image of 57.8% to an approval of 58.1%.

For its part, the controversial Javier Milei, Argentine president, came in second place with a positive image of 54.8%while the Uruguayan Luis Lacalle Pou closed the top 3 with a support of 54.7%.

It should be noted that, according to the survey, which was conducted between May 14 and 18, the only ones who had a positive variation in their approval They were Noboa, Milei and the president of Bolivia, Luis Arce, who appears in the sixth box, going from 40.5 to 42.3%; however, the latter’s rejection rate is 54.2%.

How is the local scene?

CB Consultora also investigated the local level, and in the case of Colombia analyzed the positive image of some political leaders.

The best placed is the mayor of Bogotá, Carlos Fernando Galán, whose positive image is 52.7%, compared to a 32.1% negative image; The second on the list is the mayor of Medellín, Federico Gutiérrez, followed by former president Álvaro Uribe, and the mayor of Barranquilla, Alejandro Char.

Petro appears in the fifth box, above Eduardo Verano de la Rosa, governor of Atlántico; Alejandro Eder, mayor of Cali; Dumek Turbay, mayor of Cartagena; María Fernanda Cabal, senator of the Democratic Center; Andrés Julián Rendón, governor of Antioquia; Dilian Francisca Toro, governor of Valle, and Francia Márquez, vice president of Colombia, whose positive image is only 22.9%, compared to 60% disapproval.

“The politician with the greatest positive image differential is Carlos Fernando Galán (+20.6%), while Francia Márquez was the one who obtained the worst negative image differential (-37.1%),” explains the survey.

The survey was carried out among 12,332 people (an average of between 1,022 and 1,485 per country), and has a confidence level of 95%, with a margin of error of 2 to 3%.
