Moscow, May 24. — Russian President Vladimir Putin is in Belarus on a two-day official visit to hold talks with his counterpart from the neighboring country, Aleksánder Lukashenko, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov announced this Friday, Prensa Latina reported. .

According to the presidential spokesperson, Putin arrived in Minsk, where he was personally received by Lukashenko on the plane steps, followed by a private meeting between the two.

This Friday, the two leaders will address current issues related to the future development of strategic and alliance relations between Russia and Belarus, the progress and prospects of integration within the Union State, as well as important issues on the international agenda.

The discussions between both leaders will take place at the Independence Palace in Minsk, starting with a small meeting and then a larger one.

Putin and Lukashenko will also discuss promoting joint projects in trade, economy and cooperation, strengthening security and cooperation in the humanitarian field.

A central point in the meeting will be the situation in the Eastern European region, the war in Ukraine, and the joint response to new challenges and threats, including the conduct of joint exercises with tactical nuclear weapons, according to Peskov.
