The Peace Festival will open on July 6 at the national special historical relics site of Hien Luong – Ben Hai and, as explained at a press conference by the vice president of the Quang Tri People’s Committee and head of the organizing committee, Hoang Nam , will have an “open” meaning.
This means, he explained, that there will be an opening ceremony, but not a closing ceremony. Until July 26, numerous activities will be held, not only cultural, with the purpose that those who come to this sacred land on those dates feel special emotions and enjoy all its attractions.
We hope this event will become a completely new tourism product in Vietnam and unique to Quang Tri, Nam said optimistically.
For his part, the president of the Popular Committee of that province, Vo Van Hung, pointed out that the project to hold a meeting of this type is a dream that they have been cherishing for five years.
Quang Tri is the most appropriate choice to organize a festival of this type for the first time in Vietnam, he stated before explaining that during it the value of peace, the heroic martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Fatherland and the victims of war.
We want to turn Quang Tri into a cultural space, transmit from there the message of love for peace that the Vietnamese people have always felt, and urge humanity to unite to build sustainable peace in the world.
In accordance with the program of the celebration, which will take place on the occasion of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the signing of the Geneva Agreement for the cessation of the war and the restoration of peace in Indochina, even before the inauguration there will be a cycling race. for Peace on June 29 and 30.
The inaugural show on July 6 will be titled Bridges of Connection, and a culinary festival and the Songs of Peace concert will be held on the 12th and 14th. On the 20th there will be an international musical show with the same theme and the last scheduled activity will be called Wishes for Peace and will take place on the 26th of the same month.
The world-famous 17th parallel runs for a long stretch along the Ben Hai River, in Quang Tri, and was the artificial and temporary boundary that existed between North and South Vietnam after the Geneva Agreement was signed, in July 1954.
