Bárbara Hernández spoke with Expreso PM about the challenge she will take on in mid-June, when she will complete the seven Tuesdays in her sports history.

This Monday, in a new edition of Expreso PM, we receive the swimmer Bárbara Hernández (38), known as the Chilean “Ice Mermaid.”

The national swimmer commented that she is preparing for a new feat, which consists of crossing a difficult canal in Japan and thus complete the seven seas in his outstanding sporting history.

Regarding this challenge, which will be in the middle of this month, Bárbara expressed that “we are going with all the enthusiasm, I am happy… we have trained very thoroughly“.

The athlete later declared that of the four swimmers who will participate “I am the only woman of the seasonthe only Latina and the only Chilean.”

Regarding what the almost 12-hour journey will be, the Chilean explained that “we are right in front of Hiroshima and there is a military base, so swimming at night is not allowed and the best conditions are always at night, because at dawn comes the theme of wind and currents.”

When asked about the possibility of a shark appearing, the interviewee said laughing that “I swim with my eyes closed.” Likewise, she established that “I am not afraid of nature, “I’m afraid I won’t finish the swim.”

Finally, the mermaid acknowledged that “I fell in love with this as an extreme sport. So maybe at some point freezing water swimming can be part of the winter olympics, but my specialty and so I am recognized worldwide and I have had two Guinness records, it is with swims like these.”
