Ellie shared with ‘The Sun’ the pain and stress her mother suffered during Wayne’s illness. “My mother wasn’t eating, she wasn’t sleeping, I tried to get her out of the room,” Ellie recalled. Despite their efforts, Sharon remained distraught, not wanting to be alone.

On Easter Sunday, Sharon called Ellie, who rushed to the hospital to find her mother in critical condition. “The nurses told me she had had a heart attack,” Ellie said. Sharon passed away shortly after. Ellie described her mother as incredibly loving, and her stepfather as a fun man who always made others smile.

Wayne died three days later, on April 7.

The young woman commented that by sharing her story she could encourage others who are grieving to take better care of themselves. Ellie, who got a tattoo in memory of her mother, recalled how her parents finished each other’s sentences and had a close relationship. “I wasn’t surprised when they said it was broken heart syndrome, as I knew how afraid my mother was of being alone,” Ellie confessed.

For now, the young woman hopes that her parents’ memory will serve as inspiration and a warning about the impact of severe emotional stress.
