As the president highlighted this Friday, this image of the future is in line with the aspirations of the vast majority of nations and can be seen, among other things, in the growing interest in the work of a universal association like the Brics group.

The group is based on a culture of dialogue of trust, sovereign equality of members and mutual respect, Putin said, adding that Russia, in the context of its presidency in the group, will contribute to a gradual accession of new members to the association. .

“In general, I believe that the potential of the Brics group (originally made up of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will allow it to become one of the main regulatory institutions of a multipolar world order,” added the president.

On January 1, Russia assumed the rotating presidency of the BRICS for 2024, a year that began with the admission of new members.

In addition to Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, to which the group owes its acronym Brics, it now also includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.

The Russian presidency of the group is carried out under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for the sake of fair and secure global development.

In 2024, Russia organizes more than 200 political, economic and social activities in the context of its presidency.
