He affirmed that his virtues place him in his own right at the forefront of the nation’s history.

Since joining, at the age of 16, the fight against the dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista (1952-1958), as a medical student, Mazola had an outstanding career in the service of the Homeland, recalled the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minerx).

After the triumph of the Revolution, he became founding president of the (ICAP), and from 1969 to 1974, he was executive secretary of the Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba in the eastern province of Camagüey.

During his career at Minrex, starting in 1974, he held the positions of director of North Africa and the Middle East from 1978 to 1989, and vice minister from 1980 to 1993 and head of the Population Assistance Office until 2023.

He served as ambassador to Algeria, Mauritania, Nigeria, Equatorial Guinea, Chile and Namibia and carried out numerous official missions in other countries.

At the time of his death, Mazola worked at the Document Management Center, from where he continued his work to rescue the historical memory of the Minrex as a legacy for the different generations of Cuban diplomats.
