According to the Xinhua news agency, the president of the Asian giant pointed out that the two nations are reliable partners and in joint development.
“Over half a century of diplomatic relations, the two countries have supported each other in an ever-changing world, jointly upholding international justice and the legitimate rights of developing countries, and forging an unbreakable friendship,” the Chinese leader said.
Xi recalled Maduro’s state visit to China during which they jointly announced the upgrading of relations to an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership, marking the beginning of a new era in bilateral ties.
«China is willing to work with Venezuela to maintain the initial principles of its diplomatic relations, continue the traditional friendship and, from this new starting point, constantly enrich the content of the comprehensive strategic partnership of all times, thus contributing to the peace and world development,” he added in his message.
For his part, Nicolás Maduro stressed that diplomatic ties between the two countries have advanced considerably in 50 years and underlined the historic significance of establishing a comprehensive strategic partnership for all times.
“Venezuela firmly supports China in defending its national sovereignty and opposes any attempt to contain China,” he said.
Maduro also expressed his willingness to actively participate in the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative and the three major global initiatives proposed by Xi.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to the friendship between the two nations, as well as to deepening bilateral and multilateral cooperation.
The day before, the Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Yván Gil, held a meeting in Caracas with the special representative of the Chinese Government for Latin American Affairs, Qiu Xiaoqi.
The meeting took place in the context of the commemorations of the 50th anniversary of bilateral relations between the two countries, the senior South American diplomat wrote on the social network X.
