Helga de Alvear remains faithful to the tradition of each year. As is usual for lovers of contemporary art, Madrid has once again hosted the Arco fair this month, which brings together a good number of gallery owners for a week and welcomes international experts in the field. For the foundation chaired by the German collector, with some of the most coveted collections in Europe that exceed 3,000 works and are valued at 140 million euros according to Forbes, it is a good opportunity to look for new pieces to add to the collection.

In fact, there is no edition in which the gallerist, also alma mater of the fair, do not take the opportunity to reinforce your funds. This last year, in addition, can boast of being one of the ones that has acquired the most works at the close of the event. Specifically, as the organization of the fair has made public, the foundation has purchased pieces from up to nine artists, among whom are Marcel Duchamp – from the La Caja Negra gallery -, Waldo Balart – from the gallery Casado Santapau–, Rafael Grassi –Nieves Fernández–, Piero Dorazio –Cayón–, Tomás Saraceno – Neugerriemschneider-, Heinz Mack -Parra & Romero-, Markus Linnenbrink –Max Estrella–, Ugo Rondinone — Esther Schipper– and Alfredo Jaar –Thomas Schulte–.

These recent acquisitions are now added to the collection and the forecast is that, as happened with other pieces that the collector bought in Arco, such as the igloo of Mario Merzcan be exhibited in the museum that bears his name in Cáceres for three years now.
