Description submitted by the project team. A project that was special because the office participated in the selection of the land. The Residência São José is located on a 370.50m² plot of land in the interior of São Paulo, in the city of Birigui. A flat land, standard for a condominium, with its most isolated location in front of the orchard, which appears on the horizon with an unprecedented daily spectacle, called “the sunset.” With this we positioned its façade towards the north, seeking to explore the famous four-meter retreat into the interior of the house. Improve human perception with its horizon, encouraging the unlimited creation of angles of contemplation and experience between people and nature. Like a beautiful play on an outdoor stage.
A sketch where we made two lines removed from the ends of the land, which would support two more horizontal lines, representing slabs, canopies that would resolve the entire space, covering all the needs of its users with free space. As if it were a real stage, it were light shows in natural rays. This project has two floor levels, social and intimate. On the ground floor we rent the entire social area of the house. Its user walks towards the central atrium, invited by a canopy, crossing the barrier of banana foliage that extends to the edge of the garden, waking up and disconnecting the user from their urban daily life. Arriving at the open space that connects the entire social area, separated by translucent and pure doors, it permeates the interior and exterior giving life to the house, everyone contemplates, meets, connects… and lives the real world. They end up receiving the sun’s rays and asking for permission as the day progresses. Some try, others enter the house, some are interrupted by the dense foliage higher than the wall, creating a ballet of light and shadow, making us stop and contemplate the horizon, bringing the outside into the lot.
On the upper floor, where the three suites are located, we created a central balcony, which connects and creates a suspended observation deck to contemplate the horizon and the central atrium of the lower floor. This is how we create a humanized, affective architecture, truly designed for people, that living House, with a soul, with the personality of the user and lots of natural light!!
