Architects of UNCTAD III milestone: Emotional reunion after 52 years between Gaggero and Bonati at GAM

The reunion of architect Hugo Gaggero and art coordinator Eduardo Martínez Bonati of the UNCTAD III building at the GAM Cultural Center celebrates the fusion of art and architecture, and marks a new chapter in the country’s cultural memory.

In 1972a visionary group of artists, workers and architectsled by Hugo Gaggeroembarked on a pioneering mission: to create a public space that would encourage culture and progress. The result was the emblematic building UNCTAD IIIa work that not only became a milestone architectural but also in a crucible of artistic expressions.

Today, 52 years laterGaggero and Eduardo Martínez Bonatiwho at the time integrated artworks to the building, they return to the place they once dreamed of. In the Visual Arts RoomBonati is setting up a exposure which promises to be as moving as the reunion of these two friends. A collaboration symbolizes the union and perseverancedemonstrating that, despite the passage of time, it is possible to forge lasting ties and create new works that inspire people current generations.

Eduardo Martínez Bonati, to his 93 yearsreturns to the UNCTAD III building, now known as GAMto present a collection of unpublished works that reflect his recent iconography and the many facets of its extensive and distinguished artistic career.

The path to myself

An artist known for his significant contributions to Chilean public artincluding the underpass mural St. LuciaBonati reconnects with the artistic community of the country through this exhibition titled “The path to myself.”

A joint production with CH.ACO in which Bonati exhibits a selection of abstract works large format, conceived in the last decade. These pieces, born in his workshop Pirqueare the result of a deep reflection inspired by studies psychiatric and practices of transcendental meditationand seek to transmit the vitalism that characterizes his work. With this exhibition, Bonati not only celebrates his return but also offers a window into his artistic evolution and his constant search for expressive authenticity.
