8madrid TV celebrates Book Day with a week of special programming

8madrid TV has prepared a whole week of special programming on the occasion of Book Day, which is celebrated on April 23. Starting April 17, the channel will broadcast a selection of films based on booksoffering viewers the opportunity to enjoy great stories.

Furthermore, on Book Day itself, the channel specializing in cinema will dedicate all of its programming to the broadcast of films based on books. Spectators will be able to enjoy a marathon of films of various genres, from great classics of cinema and literature, to more current stories.

A whole week dedicated to literature

This special programming begins on Wednesday, at 10:00 p.m.with ‘The search’, by Angelino Fons, based on the novel of the same name by Pío Baroja and starring Ema Penella. He Thursday 18th, at 10:00 p.m., ‘Who Loves Gilbert Grape?’an Oscar-nominated film starring Johnny Depp and Leonardo Di Caprio, which is based on a novel by Peter Hedges, who also wrote the film’s screenplay.

He Friday the 19th Spanish cinema returns at the hands of Montxo Armendáriz with ‘Kronen Stories’ (10:00 p.m.). This 90s classic is based on a story by José Ángel Mañas, who also wrote the script with the director.

The weekend comes hand in hand with ‘La Regenta’ (Saturday 20, 10:00 p.m.)directed by Gonzalo Suárez and based on the classic by Leopoldo Alas, “Clarín.”

Finally, before Book Day, the special week ends with two adaptations of two novels by the writer Arturo Pérez Reverte: ‘The Table of Flanders’ (Sunday the 21st, 10:00 p.m.) and ‘The Fencing Master’ (Monday the 22nd, 10:00 p.m.).
