Cloth bag of The Apothecary’s Diaries on Sant Jordi and Book Day
An important day for reading lovers is approaching: April 23, which is the Book Day/Sant Jordi. To celebrate, ECC Editions has prepared several surprises and, in the case of manga lovers, they will be able to get a exclusive and limited cloth bag of The Apothecary Diaries. To get it, readers will have to do a purchase of €30 or more in comics in all stores and stops ECC Comics in Barcelona, Madrid and Alicante.
ECC Editions publishes in Spain the manga adaptation made by Nekokurage that adapts the original novel by Natsu Hyûga, which is serialized in the magazine Monthly Big Gangan of square enix since May 2017. The series so far has 13 volumes in the Japanese market. In Spain, for the moment, the publisher has published the first four volumes.
As for the original novel, it is not published in Spain. Kusuriya no Hitorigoteitherthe Japanese title of this work, is published on the novel portal Shōsetsuka ni Naro since October 2011, although since September 2012 the publisher Shufunotomo publishes this story in volumes under his imprint Ray Bookshaving 15 in the Japanese market. In addition to the main Nekokurage manga, the work has a spin-off manga titled Kusuriya no Hitorigoto – Maomao no Koukyuu Nazotoki Techou which has a drawing of Minoji Kurata and which has been published since August 2017 in the magazine Monthly Sunday Gene-X of Shogakukan and which has 17 compilation volumes for now.
The history of the apothecary Maomao has also served as inspiration for an adaptation to anime. It aired during the last Fall Season and is currently complete in its original version with Spanish subtitles on Crunchyroll. Norihiro Naganuma directs and writes the script for this series animated by the studio OLM.
Maomao is a maid in the imperial palace, in the Middle Ages. She used to work as a herbalist in the pleasure district, but when she hears a rumor that all the emperor’s children have short lives, prompted by her innate curiosity and her desire to know, she begins to investigate the causes and, thus, begins the history. What will destiny have in store for him!?
