Scents of books

Within the framework of International Book Day, an event highlighted by UNESCO and scheduled during the school year by the Ministry of Education, all educational institutions are asked to highlight and commemorate this important date. With the aim of encouraging a taste for books and reading in students, educators and the community in general.

This past April 23, the José de San Martín school in San Fernando was attacked very early by the “Book Elf” in order to commemorate this very important day for humanity. All this was accompanied with strategies that seek deep ties with their neighborhood community, teachers, educational assistants, students and parents. This celebration has been implemented at this school for several years, with the mission of sparking interest in reading.

Preparations began very early with the setting up of the first stands and beautification of the establishment’s hall. The first exhibition stands were in charge of Cristóbal González Gálvez, a young value of our commune, who showed all his talent in the “Comic” relating in a way magnificent with lovers of this genre, in another slightly more traditionalist sector, it was run by the poet Rigoberto Meriño, where he exhibited very old books, a collection of books in Tres D, books by local authors and a poetic roulette, where students and teachers They tested their knowledge with the lives of our vates.

Then in the afternoon it was a collective party of colors, participation and enthusiasm, where each class exhibited books, drawings, comics, theater, recipes, science, arts, stories, botany and animals, themes all related to books and previously investigated by teachers and students.

The Director Verónica Gálvez Núñez told us that this activity has great relevance from curricular management and school coexistence. It invites each member of the educational community to nourish themselves with knowledge, dreams, trips… It is a great challenge to constantly promote a taste for literature through various actions, all manifested in the Educational project of the José de San Martín School.
