Together with a large group of children and adolescents, the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development launched ‘Winds of Change’ at FILBo 2024, the first book on climate change written in Braille, which contributes to the pedagogy strategy for Tell the country about the goals set for reducing greenhouse gases.

This book, which has two editions, the first graphic and the second in Braille, with digital and physical versions, is an inclusion tool that will be used at the COP16 Biodiversity Summit in Cali.

The book tells the story of a Colombian family, who on a trip to the past and exploring their roots discover how the paths carved by their grandfather today present a positive transformation through the energy transition; sustainable mobility; Ecological restoration; recycling plants, a country that aims for zero greenhouse gas emissions.

“Today we are launching a wonderful book on climate change in Braille, because we also want all children and young people with disabilities to be able to enjoy and participate with all the guarantees and rights like other people at COP16,” commented Minister Susana. Muhammad.

During the presentation event, 12 boys and girls from two institutions that serve this population received a copy and read with the minister the first pages of ‘Winds of Change’, in order to tell the public attending the fair about the bets. climatic conditions of Colombia by 2050.

The presentation of this book was held at a press conference, attended by more than 70 journalists and 23 media outlets from public schools in Bogotá, with colleagues who also had an approach to COP16 and how Colombia is inviting the world to make ‘Peace with Nature’.

“I think it’s super cool how this book explains to children everything about climate change and how to understand its effects. Additionally, I thought it was very good that the minister was able to accompany us and talk with the children about COP16 and this important book,” commented Karen Chaparro, mother of a child with visual disabilities.

At the presentation of the book, which took place at the FILBo stand where the Ministry of Environment tells the country about the COP16 on Biodiversity, Minister Muhamad also presented to 70 young people, who dream of being journalists and who are currently students of 23 public schools in Bogotá, the country’s objectives in this world-class event that will take place in Cali. Additionally, these young people were able to learn how Colombia is inviting the world to make ‘Peace with Nature’.

These students from 9 locations are part of the School Media strategy of the Bogotá Ministry of Education, made up of more than 120 school media, which seeks to strengthen the communication skills of students, sensitize them to the reality of the country and encourage them to create contents.
