Seeking greater participation of children and adolescents from regions and of different age ranges, the deadline to participate in the Citizen Anthology of Readings for Children and Adolescents in Chile was extended until May 15, 2024. An illustrated anthology will be made from the content that will be distributed free of charge throughout the country and will be available in digital format for the entire community.
The celebrations and activities of The Year of Readings for children and adolescents are being carried out with various activities. Like every April, the National Reading Plan and the institutions that coordinate it define a thematic axis to celebrate book month, this year it has been decided to commemorate the centenary of the adoption of the Geneva Declaration on the Rights of the Child. In this context, Chilean citizens are invited to participate in the preparation of the 2024 citizen anthology, calling on girls, boys and adolescents to share the most significant books or those that have marked these stages of the life cycle, recommending them to other readers. . It is also possible to share your favorite literary characters or highlight a fragment of the works.
The call will be open until May 15 and can be done through this online form, where mothers, fathers, family members, teachers or people with children and adolescents in their care can help them participate by completing the information required. .
The 2024 anthology highlights the voices of children and adolescents regarding the enjoyment of reading, who will tell what they are reading, why this reading has been important for them, and whether they would like to recommend it to others. The publication that results from this compilation seeks to reflect how the book is an agent of change and how reading is a space for the development of all its potential.
Citizen participation will make it possible to prepare an illustrated publication that will be presented at the end of this year in printed and digital format. It will be illustrated by national artists who participated in the Chilean delegation of the Ministry of Cultures, at the International Book Fair in Bologna 2024.
