About the energy problem facing the countryDuque expressed concern due to the delay in the implementation of alternative energy projects in the last two years.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the lack of commissioners in the Energy and Gas Regulatory Commission (CREG) has generated uncertainty among those responsible for supplying the energy market.

“Well, our future, as it is stated there, is a future where conservation, ecosystem protection and the defense of climate action is fundamental,” he noted.

Given the transition towards cleaner energy sources, such as solar, Duque emphasized the importance of maintaining a balance between different energy sources, including hydro, solar, wind and geothermal.

“One has to maintain the water source, which we have, the solar source, the wind source, the geothermal source, also when appropriate in what is happening today. Fortunately, we have a thermal capacity with fuels that has been able to replace the losses we have had in electricity supply from water sources so that all the reservoirs are not depleted,” he added.

He highlighted that, although there is thermal capacity with fuels to compensate for losses in the electricity supply, It is crucial to have a solid and predictable tariff system to avoid financial collapses in electricity suppliers.
