The federal Ministry of Culture of Mexico, through the national program Alas y Raíces, has announced selected authors whose works will be part of the editorial collections Lizard wings and The other inks 2024.

For this fifth edition of the national call published last February, 418 unpublished literary and graphic works were received, in the genres of narrative, dramaturgy, poetry, essay and short story, as well as graphic novel, comic, comic strip and album pieces. illustrated, all aimed at girls, boys and young readers, written in Spanish or National Indigenous Languages.

The 5th Alas de lagartija Call promoted the participation of authors with unpublished works in the genres of narrative, dramaturgy, poetry, essay and story, written in Spanish or in National Indigenous Languages, aimed at girls and boys from 0 to 5 years old, 6 to 12 years old, as well as young people from 13 to 17 years old and 18 to 25 years old.

While the 5th call The Other Inks was aimed at authors and illustrators of Mexican nationality from 18 years of age, who participated with works of their authorship, unpublished and with free themes, in Spanish or in National Indigenous Languages, in the categories graphic novel, comic, cartoon and illustrated album, aimed at girls, boys and young readers from 6 to 25 years old.

The selection of works for each call was in charge of an Editorial Committee made up of specialists in children’s and youth literature, Luisa Fernanda Arellano Ruiz (illustrator/editor), Mariana Alcántara Pedraza (illustrator), José Jonatan Gamboa Esteva (reading promoter), Límbano de la Cruz Vázquez (writer in native language) and Brenda Isabel Reyes Páez (librarian and reading promoter).

The 10 works selected from the fifth edition of the Alas de Lagartija call, as well as the three works selected from the The other inks 2024 call will be published in printed and/or electronic version, and will be part of the Alas y Raíces publishing label for distribution free.
