The name of Carlos Ocaña Orbis will be proposed, tomorrow, Wednesday, May 8, by the State Industrial Participation Company (SEPI) to assume the position of advisor in Telephone which corresponds to the public body after exceeding 6% participation in the share capital on April 26.
By the SEPIthis has the Government’s mandate to reach 10% of Telefónica’s capital to act as a counterweight to the intention of Saudi Telecom (STC), which reached 9.9% of the Spanish company by 2.1 billion euros.
The ratification of Ocaña Orbis as a director may occur in the coming days and his appointment will occur by co-option and will imply the departure of a member of the operator’s board of directors. In this sense, according to the agency Europa Pressthis outgoing member would be Carmen García de Andrés.
