MURCIA. The Caravaca de la Cruz Book Fair 2024which will be held from June 15 to 23will arrive accompanied by more than a dozen parallel activities related to the promotion and encouragement of reading. This event, organized by the City Council, has been presented by the Councilor for Culture, Joaquin Zaplanatogether with the technical staff of the Municipal Public Library.

“The fair will be a great meeting for readersbeing able to know first-hand more than twenty outstanding national, regional and local authorsthrough meetings and signatures that we will celebrate in the House of Culturea few meters from The Slidewhere the booksellers’ and publishers’ booths will be located,” highlighted the mayor of Culture, who announced that “on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2024in Caravaca some will meet 200 members of the reading clubs of the Region of Murcia“.

On Monday, June 17 at the Book Fair there will be Manuel Vilas, who will star in a meeting at 8:00 p.m. This Spanish poet and novelist was a finalist in 2019 for the Planeta Prize with the work Happiness and winner of the Nadal Prize in 2023 for Us. His best-known novel is Ordesapublished in 2018.

On Tuesday, June 18, at 8:00 p.m., it will be the turn of Jose Costawho returns to the Caravaca Book Fair to present his latest book Physics for murderers.

On Thursday, June 20, at 8:00 p.m., the programming will continue with the writer and professor of Art History at the University of Murcia Miguel Angel Hernandezwhich will talk about his many novels and essays.

On Friday, June 21, at 8:00 p.m., the writer and journalist Ignacio Ramosa native of the district of Barranda, will present his book on The dusk and the dawn.

The day of Saturday, June 22, brings various activities for children and adults. These will begin with initiation games at role-playing games and board games, which will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on La Corredera promenade. Coinciding with the opening day of the Book Fair, Caravaca de la Cruz will be the venue on June 15, VII Regional Meeting of Reading Clubswhich moves to the city on the occasion of the Jubilee Year 2024 and in which the participation of about 200 people from different municipalities is planned.

During this day, the clubs will participate in the activity ‘Experiences of personal transformation through shared reading.’ In addition, a program composed of various talks has been planned, such as the one entitled ‘The power of reading’ by the Caravaca writer Miguel Sánchez Robles or ‘Histories and legends of Caravaca de la Cruz’ by the historian Diego Marín Ruiz de Assin .
