Globant, a global digital and cognitive development company, announced a new call to award 500 scholarships to people interested in training in technology careers in certain Latin American countries. According to the company, 50% of the educational opportunities presented will be exclusively for women, in order to promote gender equality in the sector.

The educational platform that will certify the training will be Globant University, the company’s learning and development division. This department offers training and professional development programs for its employees, clients and partners.

The program called Code Your Future, Classes will begin in August, but profiles interested in participating in the training have until June 24 to register. The duration of the courses is eight months and the countries that will have access are: Colombia, Uruguay, Chile, Argentina and Peru.

According to PageGroup, a leading company in specialized recruitment of professionals around the world, 48% of IT job vacancies in Latin America cannot be filled due to lack of professionals. Likewise, they assure that by 2025 approximately 3,500,000 professionals will be needed in Latin America to meet the demand of industries undergoing digital transformations.

What will be learned in the courses?

In the course of Backend with Java, participants will learn how to develop modern applications from scratch using Java and the Spring framework. They will enter the world of server-side programming with Microservices and acquire skills to work with Relational Databases.

The course will also provide knowledge on developing quality software through best practices, using tools such as JUnit and Git. Participants will learn to design complex Back-end applications that are robust, fast and scalable, using the most used technologies in the industry.

Classes include:

  • Programming Fundamentals
  • Object-oriented programming in Java
  • Databases with MySQL
  • Back-end with Spring Framework, JDBC and JPA
  • RESTful Services
  • Unit testing with JUnit

In the training of Quality Control + Automation, Students will acquire the necessary skills to build a robust test automation system, guaranteeing maximum quality in web and mobile applications automatically.

They will learn to use industry-leading tools such as Selenium and Cypress, as well as programming languages ​​such as Java and JavaScript, to develop and manage quality assurance solutions in software projects.

The course includes topics such as:

  • Code version management
  • Continuous integration
  • Test Automation Principles
  • Web automation with Java and Selenium
  • Automation of mobile apps with Java and Appium
  • Automating API Services with Java and Rest Assured
  • Good automation practices
  • Screenplay Pattern with Serenity
  • Web automation with JS and Cypress

Requirements to apply for technological scholarships

  • Have completed secondary education.
  • Residing in one of the following Latin American countries: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay.
  • Have access to computer equipment. That is, a laptop or desktop computer with a camera, microphone and a solid and stable internet connection.
  • Basic computer knowledge, such as folder management, navigation and email.
  • Intermediate level of English.
  • Hourly availability of eight hours of synchronous course and four of asynchronous course per week. Synchronous classes will be from Monday to Thursday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm in Colombia.
  • Complete the registration form, pass the introductory work on logic and text comprehension exercises.

Registration process for technology courses

  1. To begin the process, you must access the registration form, fill it out and complete the introductory work with logic and text comprehension exercises, before June 24.
  2. If the data presented and the introductory work are approved, the person will have another test of soft skills.
  3. Once you have passed the first and second point tests, you will receive an email confirming the vacancy and instructions to start classes in August.

Classes will be carried out through a virtual classroom format, that is, live through videoconferences. Likewise, throughout the classes the beneficiaries will have the opportunity to learn collaboratively, with classmates from other countries. The scholarships will cover 100% of the course costs.
