There was alarm. There was a month left until the opening of the Book Fair and its venue had not been confirmed. The event has been held at the CCK for years and that’s how it was going to be but the lack of certainties began to cause some headaches in the The Book Foundation, the private entity that organizes this exhibition and, also, the April Book Fair, the “big fair.” As reported by Infobae, this Thursday the Foundation warned exhibitors that things were complicated. The Secretary of Culture, Leonardo Cifelli, asked for 24 hours to provide a response. The answer came this Friday evening. And it was a yes.

What happened? From Culture they had said that the difficulty was due to “programming issues”, although the date of the Children’s Fair -from July 8 to 28- has been planned for a while. Others speculated that the brake could have to do with the confrontation between the Foundation – particularly its director, Alejandro Vaccaro – and Javier Milei, which occurred during the Book Fair and ended in the President deciding not present your book in that framework.

Who decided to give the green light? Officially, Culture responds that it was Minister Sandra Pettovello, who is the authority over Secretary Cifelli. However, unofficially, sources close to the secretary admitted that the question about the dispute with President Milei “is the right one.”

As Infobae learned, they also notified the Foundation that during the month until the opening of the Fair it is likely that the name change of the cultural center will take place. The CCK, as reported, will be renamed “Palacio Libertad.” The brochures and posters will have to be adjusted to that.
