A neighbor of Alejandro Korn presented a book on medicinal cannabis based on her family experience

“My experience with medicinal cannabis begins ten years ago, when one of my granddaughters with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) was medicated with psychiatric and neurological remedies, which caused many side effects and isolated her even more from her environment,” The neighbor indicated about her entry into the world of medicinal cannabis.

“From the beginning, the cannabis treatment, supervised by Dr. Carlos Magdalena, a pioneering neuropediatrician in medicinal cannabis, was a success. Smiles appear, eye-to-eye looks, a decrease in anguish and anxiety, all typical characteristics of ASD,” Urtubey explained in dialogue with El Diario Sur.

“Then, when my other grandson with ASD entered adolescence, we started treatment with him too. “Both never needed to use psychotropic drugs again and all their symptoms are controlled,” said the woman, listing the benefits of medical cannabis treatments.

Cannabis does not work as a replacement for medical therapies

A study by the Ministry of Health ensures that medicinal cannabis is a product that does not work as a replacement for medical therapies, but rather is an adjuvant, since it enhances the effect of analgesics or anticonvulsants. Its objective is to reduce the patient’s medication doses and helps ensure that instead of taking ten or fifteen pills per day, the patient takes two or three.

In that sense, the work indicates that treatment with medicinal cannabis does not have any side effects. Its fundamental components are cannabinoids, which act directly on pain receptors, abnormal movements, and its indication is for both children and adults with no age limit.

It can also be used in cases of anxiety or sleep disorders as a relaxant, since the effect occurs only on pain and muscle relaxation receptors, although it does not have a sedative effect. It should be noted that the derived medicinal cannabis, cannabidiol or CBD, does not contain THC, which is the component that produces psychotropic effects.
