Netflix confirmed a new series that will be based on a book by the writer Agatha Christie: The mystery of the seven spheres (The Seven Dials Mystery), which is about a series of murders that are linked to a secret organization. As in all of her work, the author explores the world of the police genre.

The literary work of the acclaimed British writer was first published in the United Kingdom in 1929, being one of her first published books. Throughout her life, Christie wrote more than 60 books and managed to transcend as one of the most important references in the genre and the world of literature.

This is not the first time that Agatha Christie’s stories have been brought to film or television: Witness for the Prosecution, Murder on the Oriente Express, Death on the Nile and Ten Negritos are some of the many examples, which had filmmakers like Sidney behind them. Lumet and Billy Wilder.

What the Netflix series will be about

Although it is too early to know when the Mystery of the Seven Spheres series will premiere, it is already a fact that it will be one of Netflix’s next ambitious bets.

Along these lines, the story takes place in a country house in England in the mid-1920s. One night, during a party, a young woman witnesses a series of strange events, which lead her to investigate what is happening behind the suspense.

“England. 1925. At a lavish country house party, a prank seems to have gone terribly wrong. It will be up to the most unlikely of investigators (the effervescent and inquisitive Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent) to unravel a chilling plot that will change their life, opening wide the mystery of the country house,” the official synopsis also revealed.

Mia McKenna Bruce, Martin Freeman and Helena Bonham Carter will be the protagonists of The Mystery of the Seven Spheres, although it is not yet known who else will accompany them in this story.

Additionally, Chris Chibnall is the main writer of the Netflix series. Suzanne Mackie and Chris Sussman will also join the production. All three names come from successful television projects such as Doctor Who, The Crown and Good Omens.

“Chris Chibnall’s scripts are brilliant and I am delighted to be part of this new interpretation of Agatha Christie’s iconic narrative.”
