The book Management of the Great Ibero-American Theaters, compiled by Gonzalo Halty and Facundo de Almeida, investigates the histories, practices and policies behind the main Ibero-American theaters.

“There is a lot of talk about what happens on stage, but in general almost nothing is said about what happens behind the stage that makes that other thing possible: the management, administration, budget, cleaning and maintenance teams. The objective was to give visibility and prioritize the issue of management,” Halty explained in an interview on Channel 5’s El Living.

The publication rescues the management experiences of 14 theaters from 10 different countries, including the Teatro Solís and the Adela Reta del Sodre National Auditorium in Uruguay. Also included are the Bicentennial Theater of San Juan and the Colón Theater of Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Amazonas Theater and the Municipal Theater of São Paulo (Brazil), the Municipal Theater of Santiago (Chile), the Teatro Mayor Julio Mario Santo Domingo in Bogotá (Colombia), the Sánchez Aguilar Theater in Guayaquil (Ecuador), the El Liceu Theater in Barcelona and the Teatro Real in Madrid (Spain), the Palace of Fine Arts (Mexico), the National Theater of Peru and the Teatro National of São Carlos de Lisboa (Portugal).

“It is a product that did not exist and that helps make management models visible,” said Halty.

The material is also a contribution to cultural management.
