Next Tuesday the 25th at 6:30 p.m. within the cycle The ship of dreams The official presentation of the book will be held at the Mariano Moreno National Library (Agüero 2502; CABA), with free admission. Unusual and fantastic: the other Argentine cinema by Ayi Turzi, an investigation into national cinema of little explored genres, which brings together more than 800 feature films released since 1907.

The book is divided into chapters by genre: horror, science fiction, bizarre, fantastic, action and police, western and adventure, comedy, slasher and giallo, among others. The intention is to be an easily accessible tool for learning about films whose circulation is generally very limited.

Turzi is an image and sound designer who graduated from the UBA, she completed a master’s degree in Argentine and Latin American Theater and Cinema studies at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters and is completing her thesis.

Furthermore, he directed And… who killed the butler? (2012) and Chevysaurus, the movie (2019), in addition to several short films. He was responsible for art direction on several projects, such as Two crazy people in Mar del Plata (2009) and Born to Die (2014). You are currently editing Bizarrophiliahis first feature-length documentary, about bizarre cinema in Argentina.

Since 2014, Turzi has participated sporadically as an editor in various independent media. She has been through The Fourth Wall, Loco x el cine, Cinergia, Cine Fantástica y Bizarro and Terror.com.ar. She also did radio: she brought national cinema themes to Spoiler Alert (Radio Border), had a column on federal cinema in The Cinephile Preview (Radio Colmena) and with Cine Doroga in Fakin Vicio, on Radio Monk, revisiting Argentine cinema outside the canon.
