Ferrovial has teamed up with the technology consultancy DXC Technology to jointly develop the Quercus platform, which will accelerate and scale the adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in all of the infrastructure company’s businesses and assets. DXC will be responsible for the maintenance, evolution and commercialization of Quercus, while Microsoft will provide the technological foundation on which the platform will be scaled.

Quercus consists of a set of technological components and business logic that will serve as a basis to scale the use of AI and build stable, fast and effective solutions for all types of companies and sectors. Its technical components include those necessary to guarantee data security and privacy, the ability to integrate with other systems and the orchestration between different generative AI models, among others. Thanks to its development capacity, Quercus will allow companies to reduce the times associated with creating new solutions that adapt to their needs.

Advancement of business services supported by AI

In its first version, this platform has already allowed Ferrovial to offer a marketplace of generative AI solutions, including an assistant for common tasks that can be used by any employee or professionals who are experts in Human Resources and Cybersecurity.

“The journey has only just begun. Thanks to the collaboration with DXC and Microsoft technology, Ferrovial hopes to progressively apply this technology in dozens of cases. Querqus will be very beneficial in optimizing processes, generating designs, simplifying applications to protect the safety and health of all your workers and, in general, improving your operations,” says Dimitris Bountolos, CIIO of Ferrovial.

From its Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence in Santiago de Compostela, DXC will promote the evolution, maintenance and commercialization of the platform for third parties, based on Microsoft technology, which will benefit both the technology company’s activity and its clients. .

“The agreement signed with Ferrovial marks a milestone in the advancement of business services supported by AI. This is a unique collaboration that promises to revolutionize the way technological solutions in the field of Generative AI are developed and applied. At DXC we are sure of the value that the Quercus platform will provide to our clients, allowing them to accelerate innovation and improve the profitability and efficiency of their businesses, which will give them a significant competitive advantage in the market,” highlighted Juan Parra, president of DXC Europe.

For its part, Microsoft will allow the growth and versatility of the platform to scale, subsequently benefiting other companies that decide to use it. Alberto Granados, president of Microsoft Spain, assures that “at Microsoft, we maintain strategic relationships with both Ferrovial and DXC, and we are very pleased to collaborate with both companies in this initiative around our responsible AI technology.”

The experience acquired with the development of use cases for Ferrovial will serve to improve the performance of the platform, and obtain learning that can be successfully applied in other companies in various sectors.
