There are only four requirements necessary to be able to apply for the Disability Allowanceaimed at children under 18 years of age with a physical or mental disability, members of vulnerable families.

The amount of this State benefit is $107,148equivalent to half of a monthly payment of the Universal Guaranteed Pension (PGU), benefit that is also paid by the Social Security Institute (IPS).

What are the four requirements of Disability Allowance?

These are the conditions, defined by the Superintendence of Social Security:

1. Be a minor.
2. Belong to the 60% of the poorest population, according to the Socioeconomic Qualification instrument of the Social Registry of Households (RSH).
3. Have a continuous residence in the country for at least three years, immediately prior to the date of submission of the application.
4. Having been declared with a mental disability or with a severe physical or sensory disability, in accordance with the provisions of DS No. 54, of June 22, 2022, of the Ministry of Labor or Social Security, in the provisions established in Law No. 20,422, the provisions of article 4 of Law No. 18,600 and supreme decree No. 47, of 2013, of the Ministry of Health.

How to request the benefit?

These are the steps to follow:

• Enter the benefit website in Chile Atiende.
• Enter your RUT or that of the beneficiary.
• Click on “Consult” so that the system automatically tells you if you meet the requirements.
• Press “Apply” and write your Unique Code.
• Complete the required information and accept the sworn statements.
• Detail the link between you and the beneficiary.
• Press Continue and then Confirm.
