Evergreen placed an order consisting of six container ships Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuildingsubsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC)as reported Alphaliner.

The order placed by the Taiwanese shipping company will begin to be delivered from the second half of 2026, the time frame in which the first unit with a capacity for 2,400 TEU will be launched.

Concerned about rising demand for TEUs coming from Asian shipyards this year, shipping company CEOs have reined in their orders in recent months.

The capacity of the container ship fleet currently stands at 29.37 million TEU. It will reach 30 million TEU by the end of June in this record year for new construction deliveries, according to data from Linerlytica.

Meanwhile, Alphaliner saw a record 50 new vessels delivered last month in what it described as a “huge” capacity of 333,000 TEU. For comparison, more capacity was delivered in April than the entire existing fleet of Pacific International Lines (PIL)the twelfth largest ocean liner in the world.
