June started and the first publications of price lists from automotive companies began. As usually happens, toyota was the first to disseminate the new official values of its 0km on its website and, unlike what had been happening since February, the numbers for its pickup, the hiluxthey increased again.
After four months in which the line of the Japanese brand’s star model remained frozen, as a result of the sharp drop in sales in the automotive market – the first five months registered a decline of 22.1% compared to the same period from 2023-, June came with updates for almost all models in the range.
On average, The increase for the pickup was 3.7%. The exceptions are the top-of-the-range Hilux SRX 4×2 and 4×4 with automatic transmission and the sports version, which maintained the same values as in May.

In May, the Hilux climbed three places and was ranked first in the best-selling 0km ranking. The month closed with 2560 patents (equivalent to a 7.8% share). according to data from the Association of Automotive Dealers of the Argentine Republic (Acara). The Peugeot 208 with 2,455 patents and the Toyota Yaris with 2,311 completed the podium.
In the year’s total, the Cronos (first in the last three years) continues to lead, with 13,816 registrations, followed by the Peugeot 208 (12,383) and the Toyota Hilux, with 9636.
In the cumulative total of the year for the pickup segment, however, it does lead with an advantage, since the Ford Ranger, second, has 8,585 patents; and the Volkswagen Amarok – which fought closely for first place throughout last year -, 6849.
What were the best-selling 10 0km in May?
After a first quarter with a contraction of more than 20%, car sales improved in May compared to April, but continue to decline compared to 2023. The fifth month closed with 34,614 patents, 5.1% more than the previous month and 13.8% less than in May 2023.
In it accumulated of the first five months of the year, patents were 152,339 units, this is a 22.1% less than in the same period of 2023, in which 195,673 vehicles had been registered.
“The May figures continue to improve and this is largely due to the fact that financing appeared. A few months ago bank rates were above 100% and today they are already a third. This is a key tool for the sector and will continue to expand also for motorcycles and machinery and is what will allow us a massive improvement,” analyzed the president of Acara, Sebastian Beato. “There are some tax reduction proposals that will also have a strong influence so that the client appears firmly. From the value chain we also have a lot to do and that is what we are working on,” he concluded.
