Although BBVA is one of the most solid banks in Mexico, the advancement of technology has made notable changes in the way of carrying out banking transactions, given this, the famous financial entity reports that ATM disappears in the country and warns to their customers which this also entails closing of branch offices until June.

According to a report issued by BBVAboth the Covid pandemic and the increase in electronic banking in Mexico, has generated close branches and disappear some ATMs at the national level. It should be remembered that this financial entity has around 30 million customers in the country.

BBVA points out that until March 2024, the National Banking and Securities Commission (CNBV) has a record of a total of 63,464 cautomatic locksmiths in operation, 636 less than in December 2023 and 2,093 less than in March 2023.

Meanwhile, in the case of closing of branch officesin the national territory it is recorded that a total of 11,814 remain in operation, so warns to the customers This is equivalent to 24 fewer branches compared to December 2023 and 30 fewer than in the same month of 2023.

BBVA customers using its digital channels increase

Despite the situation that BBVA disappears ATMs and perform the closing of some branch officesthis bank remains positive, since in their Quarterly Report for the first part of 2024, they assure that the number of clients who use their digital channels continues to increase, since they have “marked clear leadership in innovation and technology by continuing to develop new products and services, which offer an agile and simple experience to its customers through its mobile applications”.

“This approach has led to notable growth in the number of customers using digital channels, reaching a total of 22.9 million mobile customers at the end of March 2024, which represents an increase of 16.4% compared to the same date of the previous year, covering 74% of the total customer base”points out BBVA.
