In the last edition of Goodwood Festival We were able to see Lanzante’s new creation, a Porsche 911 Turbo 930 whose engine had been replaced by none other than the TAG-Porsche engine that the McLaren team used in Formula 1 in the mid-eighties, engines with which Niki Lauda and Alain Prost achieved the team’s first two world titles. For the 2024 edition of the Goodwood Festival, Lanzante is going to return with his Porsche, even more improved. And, of course, even wilder.

Lanzante’s Porsche 911 saves 400 kilograms

To begin with, the chassis has been revised, using carbon fiber of the same quality that we would find in the single-seaters of the premier class – remember that McLaren pioneered the use of carbon fiber in single-seaters in the early eighties. Inside it has been almost completely emptied, leaving only the electric mirrors, the windows and a safety cage that provides rigidity to the structure and protection in the event of an impact.

Goodbye to the leather seats, because Lanzante has placed drumstick-type seats, the work of Recaro in addition to a steering wheel similar to the MP4/2 with which Lauda and Prost dominated the 1984 season, separated by half a point at the end of the season in favor of the Austrian. Lanzante’s Porsche 911 Turbo 930, now called Tag Championship, It now weighs no less than 920 kilograms empty, saving an incredible 400 kilograms (Coach).

Thanks to Cosworth, the V6 Turbo engine now develops 625 HP

The TAG-Porsche engine, a 1.5 V6 biturbo, has been revised by Cosworth changing pistons, valves and connecting rods, in addition to improving cooling and using titanium turbochargers that are lighter than the originals. The result is that the engine goes from 503 HP to a sensational 625 HP (similar to the power it developed in racing specification in 1984), and can go up to 10,250 RPM. The gearbox to which it is coupled is that of the 911 of the 993 generation of six speeds. The established gear ratio allows it to reach 322 kilometers per hour.

For more references to McLaren’s first world champion car, this very special Porsche equips 18-inch Dymag alloy wheels with a design reminiscent of the MP4/2 rims. The tires used to keep this Tag Championship in the dark use 235-millimeter tires on the front axle and 275-millimeter tires on the rear.

Only three units of this very special Porsche 911 Turbo will be made

Lanzante only plans to manufacture up to three units of this 911 Turbo Tag Championshipin reference to the three titles that the MP4/2 achieved between 1984 and 1986 (that of Lauda and the two titles of Prost, in addition to the constructors’ titles for the Woking team. The first of these units will have a special decoration with the ‘Professor’ helmet as a motif.
