Time is running out and it appears that negotiations between the union that represents Food 4 Less workers and the company have not reached an agreement.

Given a possible work stoppage in several of these stores, pamphlets like these are being distributed where they are requesting temporary workers as a preventive measure.

The union representing some 6,000 Food 4 Less store workers could go on strike in the coming days, as the deadline to reach an agreement on a fair labor contract expired today.

This day, several stores were distributing pamphlets requesting temporary workers, as a measure to replace employees who could go on a work stoppage, however some customers mentioned that if necessary they would buy in other stores to support the workers.

“Yes, that is, we would be buying in other markets or another super supporting the workers here, supporting the strike? supporting the workers here,” said store customer Ashlie Renteria.

Among the union’s requests are salary improvements, as well as improving benefits, however there have been several weeks of talks between representatives of the union and the company and to date no agreement has been reached, something which for several clients is unfair

“It’s good if they are not being paid well or they are uncomfortable that they are going on strike,” Renteria said.

Telemundo 52 tried to communicate with the company Food 4 Less, but so far it has not been possible, for its part the union through a statement mentioned “we will continue fighting with our fellow ufcw members, our clients and our community to achieve a fair and equitable contract for Food 4 Less/foods co essential supermarket workers.”

Voting to decide whether there will be a strike or not will begin in the next few hours, with June 14 being the date on which the results could be announced.
