The five-year journey to personalize life with Bespoke AI – Samsung Newsroom Mexico

When hearing “bespoke,” which in English means “tailor-made,” most people would imagine a tailored suit. But the word has taken on a new meaning since 2019, when Samsung Electronics introduced its custom home appliances. Bespoke to begin a new era of comfort and convenience in the home.

This year, the product line evolved into Bespoke AI, as a sign of the way in which artificial intelligence (AI) is optimizing the life of each user under the company’s “AI for all” vision. In this context, Samsung Newsroom looks at some of the milestones of this five-year journey.

Color your appliances

The Bespoke concept emerged in June 2019 with Project PRISM, an initiative by Samsung to become much more than a home appliance manufacturer and evolve into a truly consumer-centric lifestyle brand. By offering a wide range of products in various materials and colors, Bespoke targeted consumers, particularly Millennials, who wanted tailored products and personalized experiences.

Under the motto “It fits your lifestyle,” Samsung expanded its home appliance offering in 2020 to include a fridge and a dishwasher. By the end of that year, cumulative sales of all Bespoke appliances surpassed the million mark. [1].

A connected home appliance experience

In 2021, the Bespoke Home strategy extended the Bespoke concept to almost all home appliances. Samsung introduced its lifetime warranty service that replaces the Digital Inverter compressor and motor for free, starting with all models released that year. New styles were introduced for the Bespoke flagship refrigeratorso that users could choose between 360 panel colors [2] or select color combinations recommended by premium paint manufacturer Benjamin Moore; in addition to the 22 basic panel configurations.

Bespoke Home made its mark in North America and Europe, as customers in those markets were able to purchase a refrigerator, a microwave or a Bespoke dishwasher and experience the SmartThings ecosystem.

Premium appliances with timeless value

Bespoke Home 2022 brought more value than ever: for the first time, it brought washing machines and air conditioners to living spaces around the world. Additionally, users took advantage of the AI-based SmartThings Home Life service to connect and control various home appliances. In partnership with Patagonia, Samsung created the Less Microfiber™ Cycle for the Bespoke AI™ washing machine to reduce the presence of microplastic particles in clothing.

That same year, the launch of the premium Bespoke Infinite Line introduced a new level of luxury to the market. Featuring durable natural materials such as aluminum, ceramic and stainless steel, the flagship Bespoke Infinite Line refrigerator reinvented home appliances with a sleek and timeless look.

Hyperconnected appliances for sustainable lifestyles

For vision 2023, Bespoke Life highlighted the brand’s core values: sustainability, hyperconnectivity and design. To this end, the company actively integrated AI into the Bespoke line and equipped all new Bespoke products released that year with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Continuing the emphasis on sustainable daily living and energy efficiency, Samsung expanded its AI Energy Mode, an innovative SmartThings which monitors energy consumption, in 65 countries around the world.

Do less, live more

Through advanced AI features, a 7-inch AI Home touchscreen panel, and Bixby-compatible voice commands, users experience a whole new level of convenience with this year’s Bespoke AI.

AI Vision Inside automatically recognizes foods in the Bespoke 4-Door Flex™ refrigerator with AI Family Hub™ to create food lists. While the custom settings of the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo™ adjust the motor power and washing and drying time according to the amount of laundry. At the same time, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo™ AI Steam robot vacuum cleaner uses AI Floor Detect to distinguish between floors and carpets.
