Spotify is preparing a new subscription package which will have a higher price than its basic plan to offer users who want high fidelity audio (HiFi)along with additional tools for creating playlists and managing song libraries.

The incorporation of high-quality sound with a minimum level of distortion and noise is not new for the audio streaming platform, which announced the arrival of this feature years ago and has been postponing it since then. A user of the Reddit platform even leaked part of the code of the most recent versions of the application months ago.

The user, identified as Hypixely, explained that the code of the most recent versions of the app referred to the arrival of a “lossless” audio optionthat is, it supported FLAC files with speeds “up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz” sample rate.

Other parts of the code indicated that lossless audio would be included as an optional add-on for paying users and would be called Music Pro, The Wall Street Journal reported.

And after extensive postponement, Spotify would finally be about to enable it for users with premium subscriptions for an additional payment of five dollars more per monthaccording to people linked to the company cited by Bloomberg.

The subscription with HiFi audio for Spotify does not yet have a release date.

In addition to being able to play songs and other content with high-quality audio, subscribers who purchase this add-on will be able to generate custom playlists for certain activities, dates and times of the year. These will also adapt to each user based on their behavior, while the platform will be able to create personalized playlists automatically.

The introduction of HiFi on the platform will come weeks after a general increase in the price of the Premium subscription for the second consecutive year for users in the United States, who will pay up to three dollars more for the family plan.

This increase will come into effect from next July and, for the moment, Spotify has not announced whether it will also make plans in other regions more expensive.
