Next year the entity will launch the ‘Complement for professional internships’ program that will benefit more than 5,000 university students with aid of 500 euros.

More than 1,300 students from different Spanish universities have the possibility of accessing scholarship programs supported by Banco Santander to carry out professional internships starting this summer, which the entity finances thanks to the collaboration agreements it maintains with academic institutions.

In total, more than 1.8 million euros of support that will be used to remunerate curricular or extracurricular internships, in small and medium-sized companies, public administrations, NGOs or in the universities themselves to promote contact with the reality of work and application of the knowledge and qualifications that are being taken or have just been completed.

The director of Santander Universities and Universia España, Susana García Espinelhas pointed out that “Our main motivation is to contribute to improving people’s professional prospects and that is why we wanted to reinforce support for professional practices and access to lifelong training, essential to respond to an environment as dynamic as the current”. Furthermore, García Espinel has highlighted that next year “we will launch a new program, Santander Scholarships | Complement to Professional Internships, with 5,000 scholarships of 500 euros to cover the expenses derived from carrying out professional, external internships or complementary training in the departments of the universities themselves.”.

Programs such as that of the University of Seville, ‘Empleamus’, open until September 16 and which offers 650 internship places in companies for a maximum of 6 months and a maximum total remuneration of 1,500 euros; the two programs at the University of Murcia open until July 21: Socio-Health Rural Internships with 109 vacancies and a remuneration of 550 euros in one month and Social and Cultural Action Internships with 20 vacancies and a remuneration of 600 euros; the program offered by the Madrid Distance University of Curricular Practices with 26 vacancies and a remuneration of 500 euros in one month; or the ‘Mundus’ program of the Catholic University of Valencia, with 23 vacancies for international internships for a maximum of 3 months and a remuneration between 400 and 500 euros per month, are just some examples.
