He ICT Ministry presented, together with the British Council, in coordination with the Ministry of Education, the ‘Green Code’ learning ecosystem, an application that contains different strategies to improve children’s digital skills in computational thinking, Colombian girls and young people, from 10 years old.
Its objective also focuses on laying the foundations for learning computational thinking and programming. The tool is now available to download from application stores: Play Store and App Store.
“What we are doing with the launch of ‘Code Green’ is to accelerate the development of the country, since education in technology is what transforms societies in the long term. Through this engine, we will make Colombia a Digital Power. Let us remember that for technology to translate into greater well-being, it is important that we know how to use it, appropriate it and adopt all the knowledge it gives us,” said María Lucía Flórez, vice minister (e) of Digital Transformation.
It is also explained that ‘Green Code’ brings together a series of tools in one application, such as a video game for PC and iOS and Android mobile devices that, through exercises, stimulates programming learning. It also includes a dashboard so that teachers can track each student’s progress, and a website with pedagogical guides for educators where they can access tools and methodologies.

their ability to program, a skill that is recognized by users once
they finish playing.
Keep in mind that any boy or girl can download the app and start training in programming through the video game. But the recommendation of the ICT Ministry is that they do it with the support of their parents or teachers, for better use of the tool.
Additionally, through the Colombia Program, the strategy will reach 120 educational institutions throughout the country in a targeted manner, to enhance the development of their students.
Steps to download Green Code:
- Open the application store (Play Store or App Store) on your tablet or cell phone.
- Search for “Code Green” in the search bar.
- install the app.
- Choose to create a teacher or student account, as appropriate.
- Sign up by providing your email, name, date of birth, and apartment where you live.
- Create a password.
- Enter the verification code that will be sent to your email.
