After the arrival of starlink of Elon Musk to Argentina, a new company satellite internet joins the market. Is about Project Kuiper of Amazon that signed an agreement with Vrio, the Werthein group company that operates DirecTV. Its objective is to provide access to connectivity through a constellation of over 3200 satellites low orbit. It is estimated that the service can be contracted from June 2025.

Currently, it is estimated that there are 383 million people, including some 200 million who, according to World Bank estimates, are not yet connected to the Internet.

Starting next year, DirecTV and Sky will use Project Kuiper’s high-bandwidth, low-latency satellite network to deliver fast and reliable connectivity. With Project Kuiper, companies will offer national coverage in each country, which until now is not possible with traditional connectivity options, such as fiber optics, since it requires large infrastructure.

From Werthein they pointed out that “this alliance with Project Kuiper is in line with our strategy of extending our services to all of South America and continues to define us as a regional leader in information, digital entertainment, connectivity and promotion of innovation. We are concerned about reducing the technological gap and, even more so, the digital divide for our future generations. And the time is now. Our commitment translates into action. Providing Internet access throughout the region guarantees the development of communities; and that is a commitment for our company.”

Also, they explained: “We want to bring the benefits of affordable Internet access and connectivity to more communities to reach further with a service that will revolutionize the way people connect.”
