Do not fall into the drop by drop: Government offers credits to avoid resorting to these loans

AND To deal with drop-by-drop loans, the Government has implemented lines of credit aimed at people who, due to their credit profile, do not easily access formal loans. We tell you what to do and what requirements you must meet.

For Eliana Ramírez, from Tunja, Boyacá, who has had a crochet business for two years, it was not easy to access credit, since she did not have the requirements that the banks asked of her.

“I started my business when I was a minor, so for this the alternatives that I could access more easily were a drop by drop. The interest rate was 5%, very high. I did it this year and then I joined a bank (to request a loan),” said the entrepreneur.

And, according to the National Guarantee Fund, Of the 5.7 million microbusinesses throughout the country, 82% do not have access to formal credit, so many are forced to resort to the so-called drop by drop.

To eradicate these informal, costly and dangerous credits, The national government also implemented the Creo program, which is a special line of credit aimed at all those people who live off the popular economy, so that they can access low-amount loans, without guarantors or other guarantees, and with terms of up to 24 months.

According to the Agrarian Bank, Through Creo, disbursements of $15.6 billion have been made that have benefited 6,550 clients.

How to avoid falling into drop-by-drop scams?

Experts make a series of recommendations so that you do not fall into virtual drop-by-drop scams.

“When requesting a loan, it should always be ensured that the entity is duly constituted, that the interest rates and commissions are published on its website and that they comply with the maximum usury rates certified by the Superfinanciera and, in addition, that they seek the comments of other users, so that, in the desire to solve liquidity problems, they do not play tricks on them,” said Miguel Londoño, Monet operations manager.

In the case of Creo, the aim is to achieve banking and open spaces for formalization through low-amount loans for the agricultural and non-agricultural sectors.

Those interested must belong to Sisbén A, B or C and be small, low-income producers or from any sector of the economy. Remember that it not only applies for individual credits, it is also for group credits.
