This Wednesday, June 12, LG Electronics opened the doors of its new Hanok House, a 100% carbon-free home powered by artificial intelligence (AI), which they have built following the traditional Korean architectural style. LG, aware of the sustainability of the planet
That is the preamble of Smart Green, a sustainability project that was born completely altruistically in 2017 and which aims to recover our ecosystems and promote the green economy for a better future. We are in a climate emergency situation, and a clear example of this is the irreversible effects in the face of the increase in CO2 emissions, which are increasingly animal species are becoming extinct (150 per day) and the excessive demand for resourcesso much so that we need almost two planets to cover the demand of all humanity.
For this reason, LG has decided to stand up to this situation with Smart Greenwhich is divided into three fields of action, according to what Jaime de Jaraíz has told us. The first of them is Smart Green Treesan initiative committed to repopulating Spain’s forest mass, and which began by planting a handful of hundreds of trees in Las Rozas, then rose to 1.5 million in Alcoroches (Guadalajara), 2.5 million in Sierra de Gata (Cáceres) and has escalated to planting 48 million trees each yearone for each inhabitant in Spain.
The second project takes us to the world of fauna, since the objective of Smart Green Bees is to boost pollination thanks to repopulation of 48 million Iberian bees. In addition to being an essential insect for the survival of the ecosystem, it is a species native to the Iberian Peninsula, so it is the only one capable of pollinating all types of plants that exist in this territory.
Smart Green Seas is the name of the third and final initiative, in which LG intends to explore new ways to combat CO2 in the seabed. To do this, his idea is repopulate Posidonia Oceanica throughout the Mediterranean Seasince it is an aquatic plant capable of absorbing and retaining a large amount of carbon dioxide.
