Drones and drone swarms are today one of the great threats to naval and land platforms. To address these threats, companies M&E Notary and Thales They have closed an alliance for the development Sentinel Rocketa joint rocket launcher system to neutralize drones both on land and at sea.

Both companies signed the agreement this week at the Paris fair Eurosatory. The new system combines the technology in Escribano’s remote weapons stations with electro-optical equipment and two-axis gyro-stabilization, with the Thales rocket launcher, with a high propulsion speed, a range of up to 3 kilometers and the ability to launch more than 8,000 balls creating a cloud of steel.

The ultimate goal is to “accelerate the joint commercialization of a solution based on the Escribano remote-controlled weapon stations and the Thales launcher and rockets, in order to offer a cutting-edge European solution on the international market.”

Both companies seek to take advantage of “the international business opportunities that are emerging in both the naval and land fields and offer a cutting-edge product to confront current threats, such as drones and swarms.”

The Director of Business Development at Escribano, Jocxan Bojorquezstated that “the current context has highlighted the need to bet on innovation and promote new developments to face new threats. Without a doubt, the union of the technological and industrial capabilities of both companies results in a product that is the technological vanguard”.

For his part, the Director of Rocket Systems at Thales Belgium, Thomas Colinetadded that “today we are pleased to establish an alliance with Escribano with a view to integrating our 70 mm rocket systems into their systems, thus supporting the European effort to strengthen European industry.”

This collaboration agreement is in line with the Defense and Security Policy of the European Union that promotes the strengthening of the European defense industrial base, the companies highlight. “In an environment with growing threats, it is increasingly necessary to rationalize investments and gain capabilities through collaboration between European companies,” they say.
