It is no secret or news that China is leading the transition towards electric mobility. Although this role was played by Tesla for many years, Americans are not able to cope with the wave of products from the East. Dozens, hundreds of different models that are no longer an alternative but a reality. BYD is the company that is achieving the most success, the only one to challenge the Americans for the world throne. Its production rate is beyond all logic or control. They manufacture at a dizzying pace, as demonstrated by the million units produced of the BYD Yuan range in just two years of life.

The year was 2022 when BYD launched the first model in the Yuan series, the Yuan Plus, which In Spain it is marketed under the name BYD Atto 3. It was the first electric model of the house to enjoy the house’s 3.0 platform, the same one that supports the rest of the electric units. From the outset, the Yuan/Atto 3 has focused on value for money. A compact electric SUV, just 4.45 meters, that has tried to position itself as an alternative rival to European models, including the Volkswagen ID.4 and its respective Volkswagen brothers and, now, CUPRA. Success has been immediate in many markets, including Spain.

The Yuan range also includes the Yuan Pro marketed in emerging markets such as South America.

The Atto 3 is positioned as a reference model within the Spanish C-SUV segment

With an increasingly large electric fleet, it is difficult to differentiate and distinguish yourself. The Atto 3 It was the first BYD car to reach our market, along with the Tang and the Hang. This priority has been well received by customers, attracted by a reasonable price and an approved range of up to 420 kilometers. With this solid foundation established in the market, BYD has expanded the Yuan range over the years. First with the Yuan Pro, available in China and other emerging markets and, more recently, with the Yuan Up, the last one to enter production in March of this year. The entire range accounted for 14% of the company’s total sales in 2023.

This means that the Yuan Plus/Atto 3 has accumulated the highest percentage of units manufactured among the million vehicles that have now rolled off the assembly line. To get an idea of BYD’s production rate, In September of last year, the 500,000th unit left the assembly line.. In less than a year the Chinese have been able to double the figure. Not only has it achieved success in Spain, it has also achieved international recognition in countries such as Australia, Thailand, Brazil and Europe in general, although not in all of these markets the Atto 3 or the rest of the Yuan range offer the same configuration.

The Yuan Up has been the most recent addition to the range. Available in China since last March.

This is the third time that BYD has celebrated such an event. The Yuan series is the third from the house to reach one million units produced. The Song series was the first to receive such an honor by including models as attractive as the most recent BYD Song L that will arrive in Europe next year to directly rival the Tesla Model Y. The Qin range has also managed to overcome the barrier of one million units manufactured. Although they are not sold in Europe, for now, in other markets it is a mass success. The latest generation of models includes electric and plug-in hybrid versions with a really tempting price.
