Until November 2023, they were at 13.25 percent, but in December they dropped 25 points to 13 percent.

The Bank subsequently reduced the rate by another 25 points, leaving it at 12.75 percent; at the end of March, the rate was reduced by 50 points, leaving it at 12.25 percent, and in May it did so by a similar percentage, leaving it at 11.75 percent.

“With the decision adopted today, monetary policy maintains a stance in line with the objective of driving inflation to its goal by mid-2025, while offering a new impetus to the recovery of economic growth,” the statement said. of the issuing entity.

This new reduction was requested on several occasions by the head of state, Gustavo Petro, as well as by the Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla, to complement the economic reactivation plan established by the Government.

Bonilla recently revealed that inflation is expected to be around 5.3 percent by the end of 2024 in Colombia, while a year later this indicator is expected to not exceed three percentage points.
