Vietnam’s GDP grows 6.93% in Q2 2024

Vietnam’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2024 grew by 6.93% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the second quarter of 2024 grew by 6.93% compared to the same period of the previous year, according to the General Statistics Office.

In particular, the agriculture, forestry and aquaculture sector increased by 3.34%, the industry and construction sector by 8.29% and the services sector by 7.06%.

According to the same source, in the first half of the year, GDP increased by 6.42%. The agriculture, forestry and aquaculture sectors; industry and construction; and services registered respective growth of 3.38%; 7.51%; and 6.64%.

The manufacturing and processing industry is the engine of growth of the entire economy, with an increase of 8.67%.

Meanwhile, the electricity production and distribution sector reported an increase of 13.26%; the water supply, waste management and treatment sector, 7.13%; and the construction sector, 7.34%. The mining sector fell by 7.22%.

Wholesale and retail sales increased by 7.34%; the transport and storage industry by 11.02%; financial, banking and insurance activities by 5.18%; and accommodation and catering services by 9.94%. These are industries that have a large share in the increase in the total added value of the economy.

Regarding the structure of the economy in the first six months of the year, the agriculture, forestry and aquaculture sector accounts for 11.55%; the industry and construction sector, 36.44%; and the services sector, 43.35%. /.
