The iconic comedy Waiting for the carriage, that left its mark on multiple generations, returned to the stage with a stellar cast, including Campi, Paola Barrientos, Pablo Rago, Ana Katz, in addition to other outstanding talents who come together to revive this work that conquered hearts and brought laughter to its time.
Precisely, Paola Barrientos is the one who gave life to the memorable Elviraa character who with his phrases marked a milestone in the history of Argentine cinema. Barrientos had to replace the person who carried it out: the China Zorrilla. “The film version is part of our Argentine DNA,” said the actress.
On the other hand, he commented on how he prepares to take the scenes to the theater: “I wasn’t sure if I could do it, but I spoke with Ciro Zorzoli, with whom I worked for many years. He threw me into the pool because of him, so we did it together.”
“My starting point was to think about making the play today, having the film so fresh there was a spirit of celebration. We celebrate that it is our theater, with our authors, our identity and our cinema, everything we see of what we like and what we don’t. “There are many scenes in the film that are not there because the play is based on the original, which was written in Uruguay by Jacobo Langsner. All the street scenes do not take place because the play takes place in Elvira’s living room, but there are references to those events”he detailed.
“I started working with the feeling of a block on my back, but with the aim of getting rid of all the prejudices of all the things that I have fun doing at a meeting with friends, like the ‘I make ravioli, she makes ravioli’ show ‘”he commented when talking about the prejudices of his interpretation.
