Jorge Mejía, founding member of The blue Angelspassed through the microphones of W Weekend to talk about his most recent album ‘It is appreciated’.

“The band was formed between 1972 and 1973, when my parents They bought my brother, Alfredo Mejía, an accordion. In this way he learned to play this instrument. Likewise, he began to teach our brothers and as we grew we forged our talent and integrated into the group, to 1980 we were already 7 brothers playing”said the founder.

Currently, the band He is 47 years old playing cumbia and continue to distinguish themselves in a society that has a lot competence musical and trend in all rhythms.

The founder of the band tells how the history of the folk musical genre began. “Born in Colombia in 1988 When a ship was stranded in the city of Cartagena, at that moment the people of Cartagena looked out and found accordions coming from Germany and traveled to ArgentinaIn this way, they took the instruments, began to play and at that moment the first cumbia was born”.

The musician tells what the name of his song comes from new album ‘It is appreciated’. “In this album we are thanking Colombia for all the cumbia they have given us.”this cumbia is so tasty, we make them a humble tribute that comes from our hearts and we show it through this song.”

At this moment the band is in a tour of the United Statesand they head to a Reforma colossus, considered the most important in Mexico, on May 24 and 25.

In addition, the founder spoke that they hope to reach the Movistar Arena BogotaColombia; and cities like Argentina, Costa Rica and El Salvador.
