In a video posted on TikTok, Tony Succar expressed his disappointment and anger with the Municipality of San Isidro after the sudden cancellation of a concert that was scheduled in that town. The musician explained that, a few days before the event, the organization gave up holding it, alleging that the sound demands exceeded the established budget.
Tony also mentioned that his mother was in Peru to celebrate his grandfather’s birthday when the municipality contacted her to participate in a district event. However, just 48 hours before the concert, they were informed that it had been cancelled.
“They responded with several excuses, such as that the mayor had to leave the event early. “My dad was shocked and said everything was ready, but they told him that a decision had already been made.”
The artist expressed his regret for the lack of a formal contract and tried to talk with municipal officials to resolve the situation. However, he mentioned that it was difficult to communicate with decision makers, noting that they often hide behind a curtain and make decisions without considering the consequences.
“I have to say that I am very sad because those who come forward, because they are people who want to help without having the power. They are the people at the top who take power, they hide behind a curtain. Until now I am still waiting for the mayor to respond.”
The musician also pointed out a more general problem regarding the organization of events in Peru, highlighting the frustration that arises from the frequent cancellation of various events, something that, in his experience, does not happen in places like Miami, where he currently lives.
“I have a duty in Peru and it is to do everything possible to make things more fair, to think about others, about the workers,” he expressed indignantly.
