“We did the impossible,” Osvaldo Laport recalled with great sadness to demonstrate how much the ALS diagnosis that his mother had received affected his family, during his visit to the Almorzando con Juana program.
On Sunday’s broadcast, in the Eltrece cycle, María Eugenia Sequeiros, Esteban Bullrich’s wife, and Osvaldo Laport were guests, who have in common the experience of one of their most beloved relatives having been diagnosed with ALS.
The artist told Mirtha Legrand’s granddaughter’s table that his mother also had that struggle: “In the case of my mother, who suffered from ALS, all my siblings did the impossible. There is a lot to do because, above all, the patient wants to live. My mother was sick for a long time, I think it was one of the first cases detected in Uruguay.“.
Then, Laport continued: “The fundamental pillar, when not having adequate service, is love, not getting angry. So, all the ladies who worked at home, which were many, did what they could. Every time I traveled home I saw the suffering of my old woman.“.
Furthermore, the soap opera heartthrob commented with emotion: “The suffering due to the impossibility of communicating. At that time, we began to communicate as best we could, with the alphabet, then I bought him the computer… We were putting together what we could at that time. What’s more, on one occasion, with signs he told me: ‘This was itching‘”.
“I have two wonderful anecdotes. She once told me to contact Pinky. I didn’t know why with Pinky and she couldn’t explain it to me with signs. I asked what was wrong with Pinky and she had another illness. He was able to relate it to his own. My mother was looking for cures. She believed that if Pinky was okay, she might be okay.“he recalled.
Regarding one of the worst moments he had to go through as a son regarding his mother’s illness, the actor revealed: “Later, another very sensitive situation was when he could no longer express himself. I was helpless, until I understood that he was pointing at a piece of furniture in the bedroom with his eyes. She made me take out a pearl necklace that she had given her when she celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with my father, so that you could bring it to Jazmín (her daughter).“.
It should be noted that, during the program, Juana interviewed Esteban Bullrich, who gave an encouraging message about what he is going through and gave details about how he sees life and how much his wife and five children help him.
In addition, it was his wife Sequeiros who also explained how the former senator’s health is and the dynamics that his family has had since her husband was diagnosed a few years ago, which managed to impact the world of politics.
