The Colombian comedian Gerly Hassam Gómez, affectionately known as ‘Hassam’, 47 years old, has faced significant health challenges over the past five years. And now, it seems that he had a relapse when he experienced severe abdominal pain that required hospitalization, preventing him from performing a presentation in Cúcuta.

In 2019, Hassam revealed to his fans that he had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that begins when cells begin to multiply uncontrollably, potentially affecting any part of the body and spreading to other areas, according to the American Cancer Society.
Hassam has since shared his medical journey through social media. In 2020, he delighted his followers by announcing that, after a bone marrow transplant, no cancer cells were found in his marrow.
“Yesterday the doctor called me to inform me of the results of the last biopsy, and I want to tell you that the marrow came out clean, that is, there is no myeloma,” Hassam published at that time on Instagram.
During your participation in the program Celebrity Master Chef, Hassam suffered a fracture to the T7 vertebra. Despite the pain, he continued competing for three months.
“The second month that they realized, because I went to have a CT scan, they told me: ‘You have to stop, because you are fractured.’ And I: No, they take me out of here cooking! And I went until chapter 82 of 83,” she said in an interview with Bésame Radio.
Now, after his relapse, the company Like Entretenimiento, responsible for the production of the event, issued a statement informing about the postponement of the show. and announcing that it would be rescheduled at a later date.
Hassam updates his health status through his official Instagram account frequently. Recently, he reported that, although he is “in control,” he will remain hospitalized for several days following his emergency admission.
In his last publication he shared a photograph of himself from the hospital and was quick to make jokes about what happened, showing his characteristic sense of humor.
“Pregnancy ruled out! “I am still in control, dear friends, thank you for your messages, I will remain in medical care for several days and I already have visitors,” the comedian expressed on his Instagram account.
