Fifty years of demanding career were left behind for Gene Simmons and the rest of Kiss with their last concerts in New Yorksomething that the singer and bassist continues to celebrate having achieved with a group in which, in his opinion, it was much more difficult to be in than in The Rolling Stones or in The Ramonespointing out about the latter that they have been “much bigger.”
The interview given by Simmons to Adam Carolla has been the one who has offered us these words from the always controversial “demon” of Kiss, which once again puts the emphasis on the effort they have made in their five decades of career: “You have to commit. You have to spend a lot more money. Look, it’s easier to be the Ramones or, bless them, the Stones. I mean, Mick jagger), Bless him, he’s 80 years old and running around the stage. But she has always worn sneakers and a t-shirt. She didn’t have to walk around in seven-inch dragon boots and spit fire and fly through the air, wear fifty pounds of studs and armor and stuff. So it’s a lot harder to be in Kiss than it is to be in the Ramones. On the other hand, we were much, much bigger.”
This level set by Simmons for his band is reinforced with the following comment, in which he remembers how for years they surpassed even the Beatles oa Led Zeppelin among the public’s preferences, for which he remembers that at the end of the 70s there were survey statistics “Gallup Poll”: “For three years in a row, we were number one in the Gallup Poll. Of course, twenty-somethings have no idea what Gallup means, other than riding a horse and doing that. But we were outvoted by The Beatles and (Led) Zeppelin and all of that for three years in a row.
Two years after what will remain forever as Kiss’s last visit to Madrid (at least in the flesh), it has been confirmed that we will have their bassist and singer back, the legendary Gene Simmonsin front of his Gene Simmons Band in a concert that will feature the company of the no less legendary Howitzer. The Madrid The Riviera room will be the one that will host this concert next August 14for which the entries already They are for sale at this link.
But that will not be the only visit of Gene to our country, since the August 13 inside the festival poster Porta Ferrada from the Girona town of Sant Feliu de Guixols. Tickets are on sale in this link.
